Pre-Quote Process

Creating a functional wetroom that will provide years of trouble-free use requires an enormous amount of preparatory work to ensure that the job is priced accurately and carried out in a process-driven manner, meeting both deadlines and budgets.

The years of experience in the high quality commercial tiling sector has given the team at Deluxe Wetrooms the ability to thoroughly plan and specify a wetroom that will provide a luxurious and highly usable addition to any home or commercial building, something that will add value to the property and be a great asset for the future.

The processes that we follow are very specific and obey a set of quality guidelines that we have adhered to for many years, to ensure that the final product exceeds the expectations of the client and provides a luxurious, trouble-free facility that is designed and built to please.

Here is our exclusive 8 step pre-quote process, following initial contact from the client:

  1. All appointments are confirmed prior to arrival, by text message, to ensure that the appointment is still convenient.
  2. Initial site inspection to identify key points:
    • Water point ingress
    • Electricals (both within and external to the proposed room)
    • Building access issues
    • Safe positioning of skip outside the home for rubble and waste collection.
  3. Assess accessibility to the proposed working area through the building.
  4. Assess how much and what type of floor protection is required.
  5. Carry out a potential problem analysis:
    • review waste pipe routing
    • check cable runs
    • identify new light installations
    • check fuse board to assess suitability
    • check existing ceiling structure
    • check existing walls to determine type (plasterboard and stud, plastered blockwork, old lath & plaster etc.)
    • check room dimensions to determine if the walls are square, plumb and flat
    • identify floor type and structure (timber, concrete, calcium sulfate screed etc.)
    • check for existing underfloor heating
    • carry out a levels survey of the floor area to assess what preparatory works are required
    • Where possible, inspect behind or under panels with our fibre optic inspection camera to identify any other issues that may arise while connecting pipe works, installing the shower trays or other connection issues below the floor or behind walls.
  6. Photographically record the room and services for site reference and for before and after recording of the project.
  7. Discuss with client the scope of the project to ensure all client requirements and details are included and give ideas as to how the project can improve the room layout and make room access easier or safer.
  8. Create a sketch of the room in order to assess sizes and layouts for the new fixtures within the room. This will be done offsite, at our main office.

This thorough pre-inspection will enable Deluxe Wetrooms to:

  1. Quote accurately
  2. Deliver a project timescale taking into consideration such things as strip-out time, materials delivery schedules and on-site execution time. This will also give the client prior warning as to the time that the area will be out of use.

All of our projects are bespoke, which means that the client is given a unique specification for their wetroom, identifying all problem areas and creating a pleasing solution for their wetroom needs.

Typical Installation Process

  1. Proprietary floor protection is installed at the building access door with an entrance mat for the installation team to wipe their feet.
  2. Carpet floor protection is laid to protect the carpet on the entire route from the building entrance to the room that is being re-modelled. This protection is tacky so that it adheres to the carpet without damaging it, and also prevents trip hazards that may be caused by rucking of loose lay protection.
  3. Set up an external work station if possible.
  4. Install a dust extraction system, to minimise uncontrolled dust escaping the room being re-modelled and contaminating other areas.
  5. Disconnect and isolate water and electrical feeds to the proposed wetroom and associated areas.
  6. Carefully remove existing WC, handbasins, shower trays, baths etc. including associated plumbing fittings, and deposit in skip (unless the client requests otherwise).
  7. The existing entrance door shall be temporarily sealed off prior to any tiles or materials being removed.
  8. Carefully remove existing finishes and bag up; to minimise dust escapes and debris spillages, bagged materials will be removed at the end of each work session and placed in the external skip.
  9. Once the first stage strip out is complete, the hot and cold water feeds and waste outlet positions are checked to confirm their location relative to the initial survey and so finalise the layout of the new wetroom.
  10. New pipe work will be installed where required to suit the new units.
  11. If a new lighting system is required within the room this will be installed early in the process. Fitting the new lights will facilitate the install, permitting work to be carried out under the final lighting conditions, to ensure the desired final appearance.
  12. Existing walls shall be plumbed up and water resistant tilebacker wall board panels will be installed, where needed, onto timber framework.
  13. All pipework and plumbing will then be completed so that the height of the wet room tray can be set.
  14. The wet room tray will be set out to suit the floor tile module sizes or alternatively the best setting out solution will be sought.
  15. After the tray has been installed, the shower area is tanked and allowed to cure.
  16. Wall and floor tiling setting out will be checked in order to achieve a balanced tile cut where possible and tiles shall be installed to manufacturers' recommendations and British and European Standards.
  17. Once the walls and floor are grouted and the products have fully cured, the new wetroom fittings, such as the wc, handbasin and shower screen are installed, again to the relevant standards and manufacturers' guidelines.
  18. Silicone sealant is then applied to the movement joints at the perimeter and internal corners of the tiling, as well as junctions with the new fittings, where appropriate.
  19. On completion, the new room is given a final clean down to provide a sparkle finish.
  20. The access route is vacuum cleaned each day and on completion of our works.
  21. Once all works are completed the floor protection is carefully removed, working backwards from the wetroom to the entrance door, to ensure that the existing floor finish is protected at all times.
  22. The external work station will be cleaned down and the skip removal booked to coincide with the last day of works. Our team will clean up around the working area of the skip, ensuring that the house and its surroundings will be left clean and tidy after the project is complete.
